History

The original Nehalem Bay Health District was formed in the 1950’s as the North Tillamook County Health District. From 1971 to 1980 the District leased its property to the Rinehart Foundation, Inc. for use in running the Harvey E. Rinehart Memorial Hospital.

Care Center courtyardIn May of 1980 The Foundation transferred the ownership and operation of the hospital to the District, along with additional land on which to build a nursing home. A bond issue was voted by the residents of the area to build the nursing care facility and medical clinic buildings, which were completed in 1982. In 1989 the hospital closed and is now used as offices for health related businesses.

Board of Directors

Members of the Board are elected by the residents of North Tillamook County at the May elections held in odd numbered years. As a Health District our charter is to use this property in support of health related projects for the good of the citizens of North Tillamook County. Our constituents live in the area just north of Rockaway Beach, East to the Washington County line and North to the Clatsop County line.

Board meetings are normally held the 4th Thursday of each month and the public is always welcome. Contact the District offices at 503-368-5119 to confirm meeting date, time and location.
